Currently staying at Vacation Club, as non-owners we were convinced to go to a timeshare presentation. Wasn't too interested until I learned I could use my hotel points in conjunction with the points you buy through Marriott Vacation Club. Sales Rep kept saying enhance and extend your vacation with all those points you earn (400-500k hotel points per year). My questions are:1 - What is the conversion ratio when using hotel points in conjunction with vacation club points?2 - Has anyone had difficulty converting hotel points to use in conjunction with vacation club points? (each time I mentioned it, the sales guy tried to tell me I would be better served using it for airfare or something else, so of course it raised some red flags).3 - At the highest point level (premier club or whatever it is called) has anyone ever had trouble getting into their desired resort if you were booking 12-13 months in advance? Thanks from a vacation club newbie
1. I have never experienced this or heard of this. I'll have to check a little more but my guess is that this is not true.2. See above.3. I'm currently Premier and haven't had trouble booking what I want, whether it was 12-13 months out or even as little as 3 months out. The places I have booked using points are Maui - Lahaina Tower, Kauai Lagoons, Aruba Ocean Club, Aruba Surf Club, Grand Chateau. My Maui was for 13 days. I did 2 - 10 Day reservations in Kauai, Aruba Surf was a 7 day Studio and the Aruba Ocean was an 8 day Studio. Grand Chateau, I only did 1 day as we were travelling through.
I checked on this Hotel to Destination Club points in my Marriott account and couldn't find anything for it. If it's true, I'd ask them to show you how to do it on their computer so you can see the process.
I think you can exchange DC points for MR points (1 DC = 32 MR) but not the other way around. Depending on your level (Premier, etc.), you can exchange a certain percentage annually. I don't think it makes sense though.
