I'm getting ready to list points for rent, but have one question. Who is usually paying the Paypal fee of 2.9%? The person offering the points or the person renting them? Thanks!

It is negotiable — when I've rented points out, I asked the Buyer to pay the fees and they did. When I am a renter, I have been asked to pay the fees and I do.  But I'm sure it's gone the other way too -- all negotiable.Good luck!Greg

I always ask the buyer to pay the fees.  The buyer has the option of sending the money as a “gift” in order to avoid the PayPal fees.I've also started using a new service from http://www.Venmo.com  Functions very similar to PayPal but has a "social network" feel to it.  Many of my friends use it.  It has similar fees as well except if you use a Debit card, there is no fee.  Not sure if PayPal does the same for debit cards.

While they can use the "gift" option to send the money, there is still a fee unless they pay from a bank account. The fee still applies if they pay by credit card. And many people want to pay by credit card. I think in most cases the buyer would be responsible for the fees. Though always negotiable. They can avoid the fee by paying by bank withdrawal through PayPal.

It depends on the rental.  I rent my Disney Vacation Club points out all the time.  I used to build the paypal fees into my price. These days, with other owners being so competitive, I give them the price and separate out the paypal fees.  I've never had a problem doing it this way.  Renters would rather pay the fees and use a credit card and rightfully so! I usually steer them that way but I'll also accept a personal check or payment through paypal using their bank account.
