The Waiohai looks similar to the newer Lahaina and Napilli towers at the Maui Ocean club with the exception that these are not “lock off” units. You have to use the whole thing and can't split weeks. Nice grounds, ample parking and nice long beach with sea life.No real restaurant to eat at on property as others but lots to find nearby.Lots of room in the units and great if you are going as a family. We have seen many turtles around the beach and once a seal came out to work on its tan.Kauai is the Garden Isle and aptly named. You have to want to be outdoors to enjoy it fully, hiking is a must for some areas. Poipu is dry which is why we like this rather than the Kauai Beach Club on the other side of the island.Keep a good amount of gas in the car if you like traveling at night, I think most of the island closes down so you don't want to go hunting for gas if needed. There is a Costco and plenty of groceries around the airport to fill up on before going. If you need groceries, up the road to Koloa is the post office and grocery store along with the gift shops.Kauai is not as "touristy" as Maui which means- not as crowded. A place to enjoy scenery and be outdoors. Or you can just  sit at the beach and enjoy the view for a week.

Wow, those are beautiful grounds — thank you for posting this! Are there any restaurants that are walking distance from Waiohai?  Thanks again!

The Sheraton Kauai is next door and the mall across the street has some but it is a 1/4 mi walk which would be the same as the Sheraton. I would be really careful crossing Poipu road though as people are not driving exactly slow. We ate a few times over by the roundabout just West. Merrimans was good for Thanksgiving and Bubbas served a good burger.

I'll add to the Waiohai/Poipu discussion:There is a nice 'snackbar' on the pool deck that has burgers, snacks etc.... not dinner, but certainly beach lunch. The restaurants and other shops (including a mini-mart with liq/beer) is across and down the street about 1/4 mile or so.  The street is now 25mph and patrolled pretty regularly.  It's safe.  There is also a shuttle service (golf cart) that can be found with a web search (google poipu free shuttle).  He needs about $2 each trip/person.There are many nice restaurants within 5 miles.  The small Koloa fish market is incredible for a takeaway lunch with fish or pork.  OMG it's really good for $8-11.  One of the best restaurants on the island is Beach House (yes, some disagree, but don't go to EAT right at sunset).  Short cab/drive away. The beach/trail along poipu is really amazing.

Nice that they have addressed some of that. We  will finally get back there next year and looking forward to trying the Fish Market. Thanks.
